Added on: Oct. 21, 2014

Conquest Harlanate from Conquest Stables won the Grade 3 $179,264 Mazarine for Juvenile Fillies at Woodbine in style on Saturday, making light work of her opponents. “She's doing really well and we're really happy with how she has progressed,” said Assistant trainer, Kathryn Sullivan. She added, “She's a lovely filly, she's smart and everything is going the way we want it to go right now.” These comments came from the official Kentucky Derby Gaming website.

Harlanate was ridden by Patrick Husbands and was already assured of a place in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf since winning the Natalma over the woodbine turf back on September 13th.This latest victory also secured 10 points towards the 2015 Kentucky Oaks. Brooklynsway came in second place and Del Cielo, who had an early lead, ended up in third. Conquest Harlanate has now achieved career earnings totalling $269,603 and only recently lost when she first rode on this track back on July 12th.

In other news, according to trainer Richard Mandella, twice winner of the Breeder’s Cup ‘Beholder’ recorded a temperature of 104 degrees on the morning of Sunday 19th October. This means that the Spendthrift Farm champion will not get a shot at defending her title in the upcoming Breeder’s Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Park.

“She had a nice work yesterday and seemed to be doing OK, but when we got to the barn this morning she was showing a temperature of 102 degrees. It got up to 104,” said Mandella. He then went on to say, “We've treated her with penicillin and the temperature has already started to go down. We think she's going to be all right, but she's out of the race.” We obtained these words from the official ESPN website.

Also preparing to race at Santa Anita Park in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, Wes Walker’s Undrafted managed five furlongs on the fast main track at Kneeland on Sunday. The 4-year-old son of Purim and winner of the Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park trained well on Sunday morning after the renovation break. Undrafted also recently finished third in the Kentucky Downs Turf Dash.
